AKSU SUG election time-table, 2025/2026

The Electoral Board has officially announced the schedule for the forthcoming Student’s Union Government (SUG) elections. This announcement marks the lifting of the ban on student politics and the formal commencement of electioneering campaigns.

ELECTION TIMETABLE

Monday, 30th March – Thursday, 2nd April 2026

Commencement of sales and return of Nomination forms. During this window, students must also collect the Voting Link for online registration.

Tuesday, 7th April 2026

Mandatory security screening for all aspirants.

Wednesday, 8th April 2026

Publication of the list of cleared candidates and a formal meeting between all candidates and the Electoral Board.

Thursday, 9th April 2026

Seminar on E-Voting procedures. Additionally, Presidential candidates will present their manifestos on this day.

Friday, 10th April 2026

General Election Day.

CANDIDACY GUIDELINES & ELIGIBILITY

• Student Status: All aspirants must be registered students of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic.
• Academic Requirements:
  • President: HND II student with a minimum CGPA of 3.20.
  • Vice President & Secretary General: HND II students with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
  • Other Offices: Open to both ND II and HND II with a minimum CGPA of 2.70.
• Voter Eligibility: Both ND I and HND I students are eligible to vote but cannot be voted for.
• Submission Documents: Nomination forms must be accompanied by photocopies of Admission Letters, School fee receipts, Departmental fee receipts, School ID cards, Certificates of Origin, Hostel receipts, and two passport photographs.
• Code of Conduct: Gross misconduct or insubordination will not be tolerated. All candidates must abide by the SUG Constitution.
• Post-Election: All elected Executive Council members must reside within the Polytechnic campus community upon assuming office.
