The Spärck AI scholarships will enable undergraduate students with exceptional talent to receive new funding to study at the University, providing unparalleled access to industry partnerships, work placements and mentorship opportunities on full time MSc programmes for the 2026 intake.

Aim and Benefits of University of Edinburgh Spärck AI Scholarship

There are at least 6 scholarships available distributed across MSc’s in:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Data Science
  • Cognitive Science
  • Signal Processing and Communications
  • AI for Business

Each MSc award covers full tuition fees and pays a stipend (£20,780). 

Requirements for University of Edinburgh Spärck AI Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must meet at least one of the following to be considered for the scholarship:

  • High academic achievement.
  • UK student from Black and marginalised ethnically minoritised groups.
  • students who have experienced being in care as a young person.
  • identify as women.
  • students from low-income backgrounds.
  • disabled students, including those with sensory and/or mobility impairments, long-term mental health conditions, autism, long term illnesses and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs).
  • first-generation students (whose parents or immediate caregivers did not go to university).
  • students who attended schools and colleges where performance is below the national average.

Candidates will be ranked based on how many of these criteria are met.

All students applying for the above full time programmes are eligible - regardless of fee status.
