ABSU appoints 22 directors for 2025/2026 session

The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate of Abia State University (ABSU), Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, has approved the appointment of twenty-two (22) Directors to head various centres, institutes, and units within the institution for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced in a circular from the University Registrar, Dr. Acho Elendu, dated 20th January 2026.

The newly appointed directors and their respective portfolios are:

1. Dr. Felix Ike – Academic Planning

2. Prof. Uzoma Nwokochah – Business Resource Centre (Entrepreneurship)

3. Prof. I. C. Nnorom – Director/Desk Officer, Raw Materials, Research and Development Council

4. Prof. Ebere Ugwueje – Centre for Quality Assurance & Ethics

5. Prof. (Mrs.) C.I. Nwahunanya – Centre for Primary & Non-formal Education

6. Prof. A. C. Akpanta – Centre for Remedial Studies/JUPEB

7. Dr. (Mrs.) Nkeiruka Ogboukiri – Guidance & Counseling Centre

8. Dr. Chidi Mba – Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibilities

9. Prof. Sunday Eze – Director/Admissions Officer

10. Dr. Peter Uruakpa – Lawns, Parks and Gardens

11. Prof. Levi K. Nwokocha – Division of General Studies

12. Dr. C. P. Nwadinobi – Institute for Information & Communication Services (ICS)

13. Prof. G. A. N Ama – Institute for Continuing Education (ICE)

14. Prof. Amadike Ugbogu – Research & Publications/Central TETFund Desk Officer

15. Prof. N. O. Dibia – Students’ Work Programme

16. Prof. M. O. Unegbu – Law and Justice

17. Prof. N. C. Nwaeze – Linkages

18. Dr. Onwukwe Ijoma – SIWES

19. Dr. Chidi E. Osuagwu – Centre for Igbo Studies

20. Prof. F. E. Eboh – University Examinations Centre

21. Dr. Michael Nwoko – Uke Kalu Centre for Christianity & African Culture

22. Dr. (Mrs.) Ijeoma Amaugo – Centre for Population Studies

The wide-ranging appointments cover key academic, administrative, research, and student-focused departments of the university.

According to the circular, the Vice-Chancellor has extended his congratulations to all appointees. The new directors are expected to steer their respective units towards achieving the university's strategic goals for the academic session.
