ABSU debunks news on double payment for GST fees

The attention of the Vice-Chancellor Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo and Management, Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), have been drawn to a misleading information circulating on-line, alleging that a directive was given to 100 level students of the University to make new online payments for GST and matriculation fees, to ease course registrations, after earlier payments at the ABSU Micro Finance by many of the Students.

This is not true, but rather a false information spread by some criminal elements to defraud unsuspecting students and tarnish the image of the University. No such directive was given by the Vice-Chancellor or by any recognized authority of the University.

Therefore, Students should ignore such directive claiming to emanate from the office of the Vice-Chancellor to avoid falling prey to fraudsters.

The Institute for Information and Communication (ICS) of the University is working assidously to harmonize all the payments for GST and Matriculation fees made through ABSU Micro finance for seamless online registration of courses and assures Students that there is no cause for alarm. Any Student who had paid before for these fees at the bank should not make another payment.

All those perpetrating the collection of these illegal fees and spreading false information about the University are warned to desist forthwith before they are apprehended to face the law for their actions.

The administration of the Vice-Chancellor Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo has zero tolerance for any form of extortion and other illegalities in the University.

Parents, Students and all Course representatives are to note and be properly guided. Thank you!
