ABU announces 45th convocation ceremony
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has announced the schedule of activities for its 45th Convocation Ceremony, inviting members of the university community and the general public to participate in the event.
In a special bulletin issued on Monday, 15 December 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, on behalf of the Chancellor, Council, Senate, staff and students, disclosed that the convocation programme will feature a pre-convocation lecture and the main convocation ceremony.
According to the bulletin, the pre-convocation lecture will hold on Friday, 30 January 2026, at the Abdullahi Mahadi Conference Centre, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria, by 3:00 p.m. The lecture will be delivered by Her Excellency, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, GCON, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation. The event will be chaired by His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The main convocation ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 31 January 2026, at Mamman Kontagora Square, Ahmadu Bello University, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria. Proceedings are expected to commence at 10:00 a.m.
The university management stated that it would be greatly honoured by the presence of invited guests and the public at the convocation activities. The announcement was signed by the management of the university.
