ABU notice on collection of gowns for the 45th convocation ceremony

Ahead of the upcoming 45th Convocation Ceremonies, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has released guidelines for the collection and payment of academic gowns. The ceremonies are scheduled to hold from 30th to 31st January, 2026.

According to a notice signed by the Ag. Director of Academic Affairs, all graduands are required to collect their academic gowns from their respective Faculties and the Postgraduate College.

Payment Details:

· Undergraduates: A non-refundable fee of Three Thousand Naira (N3,000) only.

· Postgraduates: A non-refundable fee of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000) only.

The university has mandated that all payments must be made via the Remita platform. Graduands are to generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) and follow the outlined steps:

1. Step One: Login to www.remita.net.

2. Step Two: Click on 'Pay TSA & States' and select FGN: Federal Government of Nigeria.

3. Step Three: Fill the form with the following details:

   · Who do you want to pay: Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria – 1000110

   · Name of Service/Purpose: COGCC

   · Description: Hiring of Academic Gown

   · GIFMIS Code: 0000

   · Amount to pay: Indicate the applicable amount (N3,000 or N5,000)

   · Provide Payer's Name, Phone Number, and Email Address.

   · Complete the security check and click Submit.

4. Step Four: Choose a payment mode: Debit Card, Bank Branch (with RRR printout), or Internet Banking.

Important Notes on Receipts:

· Payments made via Debit Card at the University's POS (Cash Office, Senate Building) will receive an official University receipt immediately.

· For payments made through a bank branch or internet banking, a printout of the Remita receipt is required to obtain the official University receipt.

The university has issued a stern warning to all graduands, advising them to desist from making cash payments at the designated gown collection centres.

All graduands are urged to adhere to the guidelines to ensure a smooth collection process for the convocation ceremonies.
