ABU issues important notice on dress code for staff and students
The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Dress Code Implementation Committee, reconstituted by the Management, has revised the provisions of the ABU Dress Code that is applicable to both staff and students. The following descriptions and elements henceforth constitute indecent and offensive dressing as well as unacceptable appearance in public spaces in the university, and are considered as acts of misconduct;
1. Wearing shorts and skimpy dresses c.g .. hody hugs, show-me-your-chest, spaghetti wears and dresses exposing sensitive parts
2 Wearing tights, shorts and skirts that are above the knees (except for sporting purposes).
Wearing Tattered jeans with holes.
4. Transparent und sed through dresses,
Wearing tight fittings e.g. jeans skirts, hip star, parra, lakra etc. that reveal the contour of the body.
6. Under clothing, such as singlets worn publicly.
7. Unkempt appearance, such as bushy hair and beards.
8. Dresses that make it impossible to wear laboratory coat during practicals os participate actively in practicals.
9. Long and tight skins which are opened in front, back or at the sides which reveal sensitive parts as the wearer moves on
10. Wearing oft-shirts with obscene captions
11. Weuring shirts without buttons or not properly buttoned, leaving the wearer bure chested.
12. Wearing of earrings by male students.
13. Plaiting or weaving of hair by male students:
14. Wearing of coloured eye glasses, not on medical grounds in the classrooms.
15. Wearing of bathroom slippers to classrooms (not on medical grounds).
16. Wearing of trousers that stop between knee
17. Having multi-colour braid for female
18. Having coloured hair styling.
19. Having dreadlocks by male or female.
20. Spangle hair style for male
21. Tattoo, piercing of body parts for lip plug/dic. mouth plate, nose ring and eyelet.
22. Wearing of ankle chain by female.
23. Wearing of long eyelashes by female
24 Wearing of Sagging ass-down by both male and female.
25. Engaging in intimate open embrace (lagging kissing).
26. Openly sining on each other's lap by opposite sex
27. Unconventional wearing of face cap

For the purposes of identification, such as in examination bulls, lecture theatres and security, every student shall be identified by his or her

. 1st Time Offender - To appear before Dress Code Implementation Committee for counseling.
. 2nd Time Offender - To be sent out of classrooms, library: office, clinic, etc.
. 3rd Tune Offender - To appear before Advisory Committee Students' Discipline,

• 1st Time Offender - Counselling
• 2nd Time Offender - Warning
• 3rd Time Offender - To appear before Staff
