ABU releases schedule for movements and parking ahead of 45th convocation

The Management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has released the official schedule for movements and parking arrangements ahead of its 45th Convocation Ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Mamman Kontagora Square by 10:00 a.m.

According to a Special Bulletin issued by the University, the arrangements are aimed at ensuring smooth vehicular movement, proper parking, and orderly procession of participants and guests within the campus during the convocation.

Entry Points into the University

• Police Gate: Designated strictly for VIPs, including the Visitor, State Governors, Ministers, National Assembly Members, Emirs, and other dignitaries.
• Main Gate: To be used by other invited VIPs.
• North Gate and NUGA Gate: Reserved for staff, students, and parents attending the event.

Parking Arrangements

• Distance Learning Centre (DLC) Parking Lot: For Council Members and Principal Officers, who will thereafter proceed to the Senate Building.
• IDR&T and Bookshop Parking Lots: For visiting Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, Commandants, and Heads of Security Agencies.
• Faculties’ Parking Spaces: For all staff, including Deans, Directors, and ABU Senate Members.

Procession into the Convocation Square

• Alex/Ribadu Garden: Undergraduate graduands are to assemble here and proceed to the Convocation Square through Gate 5, under the guidance of their respective Faculty Officers.
• ABU Basketball Court: Postgraduate graduands are to gather here and enter the Convocation Square through Gate 6.

Designated Gates at the Convocation Square

• Gate 2: Strictly for Governors and Emirs.
• Gate 3: Reserved for other VIPs.
• Gate 4: For participants in the official procession.

The University stated that its security personnel will be fully deployed across the campus to guide guests on parking and entry into the Mamman Kontagora Square. Members of the public are advised to comply strictly with all directives.

The University also emphasized that no vehicle will be allowed to park in areas cordoned off by security personnel.
