ABU SRC notice on power outage and water scarcity in Ribado and Alex Halls

The Presidency wishes to address the recent power outage and water scarcity in Ribado and Alex Halls. Comr. Abdurrahman Halliru Saraki, President of the Council, explained to the media that the power disruption stems from damaged cables caused by ongoing renovations and upgrades to the internal road network on Main Campus.

"The power outage resulted from damaged cables supplying electricity to Ribado Hall. This damage occurred during the road network renovations on Main Campus. We have notified the University's Metering and Bulk Unit and Maintenance Department, who confirmed they are working around the clock to replace the cables. New cables have been ordered from Lagos, as they are not available in nearby states, and they are expected to arrive in Zaria this weekend. Power is expected to be restored as soon as the issue is resolved". President Saraki stated.

He added that the water scarcity is linked to the power outage, with temporary measures in place to supply water until electricity is fully restored.

The water shortage is due to the power issues. Temporary water supply efforts are underway until restoration is complete ". Preside Saraki noted.

While noting that the power outage has effected not only the hostels but also some academic buildings, the President urged affected students to remain patient, assuring them that he is not sleeping on the issue and Management is working diligently to resolve these inconveniences.
