ABU Students Council update on NELFUND Disbursement for 2025/2026 Session
The President of the Students' Representative Council (SRC) of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Comr. Abdurrahman Halliru Saraki, has provided further clarification regarding the recent disbursement of institutional fees by NELFUND for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to President Saraki, the University Management has officially received the disbursed funds as reflected on the NELFUND portal. However, the institution is currently in the process of sorting and reconciling the payments to prevent any cases of overpayment or underpayment.
He emphasized that students whose dashboards indicate “Disbursed” but have not personally paid their school fees should not proceed to make payment. Instead, they are advised to exercise patience while the University completes its verification process.
“We have communicated with the Management concerning the disbursed funds. Students who have not paid school fees and whose dashboards show ‘Disbursed’ should not pay the fees themselves. They should wait as the school is sorting out the payments so their portals will reflect paid status,” the President stated.
President Saraki further explained that the University cannot immediately mark students as “paid” upon receipt of funds. A thorough cross-check of the data sheet must be conducted to ensure that the total amount received corresponds accurately with the number of beneficiaries.
He reassured students that the Management is fully aware of the registration deadline and is working diligently to complete the reconciliation process before closure of registration. Students are therefore urged not to panic, as the issue is being handled with due diligence.
In addition, President Saraki confirmed the commencement of the January upkeep payments to beneficiaries. The first batch of upkeep payments reportedly began reflecting in students’ bank accounts in the early hours of Wednesday, February 17, 2026.
“We have confirmed that NELFUND has started paying January upkeep. While some banks are yet to credit students, others have already done so. I call on my fellow students to remain patient, as the process is gradual and everyone will receive their payment shortly,” he added.
President Saraki reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting the interests and promoting the welfare of students of Ahmadu Bello University.
