ABU SRC Updates Students on Power Outage at Kongo Campus
Ahmadu Bello Students' Representative Council (ABUSRC) has issued an official update concerning the ongoing power outage at the Kongo Campus ofΒ Kongo Campus.
According to the Council, the power outage, which has lasted for two days, was caused by technical faults at the Kano Electricity Distribution CompanyΒ (KEDCO) Zaria substation. The SRC acknowledged the inconvenience the situation has caused to students and staff and expressed its sympathy to all affected members of the campus community.
The Council disclosed that KEDCO engineers are currently working to resolve the fault and have assured that electricity supply will be restored today, God willing.
During the outage, the SRC maintained close communication with the University Management to ensure prompt intervention. The Director of Kongo Campus has formally written to the Vice-Chancellor on the matter, while the Vice-Chancellor has deployed professional engineers to assess the situation and provide necessary technical guidance.
As part of long-term measures to prevent future occurrences, the University is pursuing the connection of the campus to a 35kVA power line, a development expected to significantly enhance the stability and reliability of electricity supply. Additionally, plans are underway to procure a dedicated transformer to support the new power connection.
The SRC urged students to remain calm and patient, assuring them of its continued commitment to advocating for improved welfare and better living conditions on campus.
