UNIABUJA Sultan Maccido Institute announces postgraduate admission, 2025/2026

The Sultan Maccido Institute for Peace, Leadership and Development Studies, University of Abuja (now Yakubu Gowon University), has officially invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for its professional and postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Institute welcomes applicants from diverse academic backgrounds, including Engineering, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Management, Arts, Military, Paramilitary, Agriculture, Education, Taxation, and Law.

Admission Requirements

Prospective applicants must meet the following general criteria:

  • O’ Level: Five (5) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at WASC/NECO/GCE or equivalent (not more than two sittings).
  • Degree: A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (minimum of Second Class Lower).
  • PGD Exception: Candidates for PGD may be admitted with a minimum of Lower Credit in an HND or its equivalent.
  • National Service: Must possess an NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
  • PhD Specifics: Candidates must have a basic degree, professional masters, and an MSc in a relevant field.

Note: Prospective candidates will undergo a screening exercise to assess eligibility.

Programme Durations

  • Postgraduate Diploma: 9 – 24 calendar months
  • Master’s Degree: 12 – 18 calendar months
  • Professional PhD: 36 – 60 calendar months
  • Certificate Courses: 12 calendar months
