AKSU SUG notice to students on proper channels for addressing issues

As directed by the Dean of Students' Affairs, this is to inform all students of Akwa Ibom State University that no student is permitted, under any circumstance, to make public statements whether written or spoken about a fellow student, lecturer, staff member, or the University itself on social media or any public platform without first following the proper procedures.

Any student who has concerns, complaints, or grievances is expected to formally address such matters by writing officially to the Dean of Students' Affairs. This official letter must clearly state the issue and should be accompanied by supporting evidence where necessary.

Under no condition should students resort to social media or any unauthorized channels to address or publicize internal matters. This action is considered a violation of University regulations.

Recently, a case emerged from the Faculty of Education where a student published false and misleading information about a lecturer online. This act not only misrepresented the situation but also discredited the image of the lecturer and the University at large. Such behavior is completely unacceptable and must never repeat itself. It is a direct violation of the University’s standards and a disrespect to the integrity of our academic environment.

Any student found guilty of disregarding this directive will be summoned to appear before the Student Disciplinary Committee and will face appropriate disciplinary action as provided by the University's students handbook.
