Aminu Saleh COE SUG issues alert to students on OTP Fraudsters
The Office of the Secretary General of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, has issued a public alert warning students and members of the general public about a fraudulent scheme targeting students.
According to the statement, some individuals have been calling students while falsely claiming to represent the SUG and demanding OTP (One-Time Password) codes under the guise of an ongoing application or programme. The SUG clarified that it has not authorized any such request.
The office described the act as a deliberate attempt to compromise students’ personal accounts and urged the public to remain vigilant.
The SUG advised students to take the following precautions:
1. Never share OTP codes with anyone, regardless of who they claim to be.
2. Exercise extreme caution when receiving calls, messages, or chats from unknown sources, especially those impersonating the SUG.
3. Avoid clicking on suspicious links sent via WhatsApp, Facebook, or other platforms.
4. Report any suspicious activity immediately to the appropriate authorities or the SUG office.
The statement emphasized the importance of digital safety, urging everyone to “stay alert, stay informed.”
