Aminu Saleh College of Education reiterates compliance with dress code

The Management of Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE), Azare, has reiterated the enforcement of the College dress code following reports of non-compliance by some students, particularly female students residing within the campus.

This was contained in an internal circular issued by the Office of the Registrar, Abdullahi Babbajigoral Miya, and dated January 30, 2026. According to the circular, the dress code was approved for implementation by the 5th Governing Council in 2005 after extensive consultations and sensitization of stakeholders, including staff, the students’ body, and religious groups.

Management expressed concern that despite the clear provisions outlined in Pages 62–65 of the Students’ Handbook, some students have continued to appear in ways considered indecent within the College premises.

The circular emphasized that all students must appear decently in public places within the College. Clothing must be opaque (not transparent), loose (not tight), cover from the neck down below the knee, and have sleeves.

The Management warned that students who fail to comply with the approved dress code will be denied access to classrooms, lecture theatres, laboratories, libraries, and offices within the College.

Students have been advised to carefully go through their Handbook for proper guidance, while staff members are requested to ensure strict enforcement and full compliance with the directive.

The notice was signed by Sunusi Jibo on behalf of the Registrar.

Copied to: Principal Officers, Deans and Directors, Sectional/Unit Heads, Union Chairmen (COEASU, SSUCOEN & NASU), SUG President, and all Notice Boards.
