Bayelsa Police arrests a man caught while attempting to behead a student of NDU

A female student of the Niger Delta University (NDU) was rescued by men of the Nigerian police force in the Ogobiri community in Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa state, after she was allegedly lured to a den of ritualists by a ''yahoo boy''.

According to reports, the victim, an indigene of Ammasoma in the Southern Ijaw local government area, identified as Deborah Emafridom, was lured to an uncompleted building at Setraco Road along Ogobiri-Toruebeni drive, in the early hours of Tuesday, September 21, by the suspect who is alleged to be her boyfriend.

The student was found tied up with a rope on the legs and hands when she was rescued and was reportedly on the verge of being slaughtered for ritual purposes before the assailant was discovered and arrested.

Confirming the arrest, theΒ spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, said the arrest of the suspectΒ was carried out by the combined operation of the Operatives of Operation Doo Akpor in collaboration with the vigilante members of Ogobiri community, Sagbama local government area.
