BUK orders non-students to vacate hostels immediately
The Dean of Student Affairs at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has issued a firm directive ordering all individuals who are not currently registered students to vacate the campus hostels immediately.
In an internal memorandum dated 24th February 2026, signed by the Dean, Prof. Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza, the Deanery expressed concern over the presence of former students who have either graduated or dropped out of the university but continue to occupy bed spaces in the accommodation facilities.
The university stated that this practice is a direct violation of its regulations, which restrict residency in the hostels to currently enrolled students only.
"All individuals who are not legitimate occupants of hostel bed spaces are hereby advised to vacate immediately," the statement read.
The Dean warned that failure to comply with the order would result in strict disciplinary action. "Anybody found to be in violation of this directive will face disciplinary action in accordance with the Universityβs rules and regulations," the statement added.
