AKSU Senate approves Increase in Faculty and Departmental Dues
The Senate of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has officially announced an upward review of faculty and departmental dues for the 2025/2026 academic session. The decision was ratified during the 118th Meeting of Senate held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
In a memorandum signed by Akaninyene E. Ibanga for the Registrar and Secretary to Senate (Ref: AKSU/REG/DAA/022(II)/VOL.4/037), the university outlined the new financial obligations for all returning and new students.
The new rates represent a significant shift from previous academic sessions:
- General Faculties: Dues have been increased from ₦3,000.00 to ₦5,000.00 per semester.
- Specialized Faculties: Students in the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Health Sciences are now required to pay ₦25,000.00 per session.
The Senate also established a clear distribution plan for the collected dues to support student associations:
For the Faculties of Law and Health Sciences, ₦5,000.00 will be allocated to their respective Student Associations. In all other departments and faculties, ₦1,000.00 will be remitted to the Student Associations.
This latest communication officially supersedes the earlier memo dated March 2, 2026. Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments have been directed to implement these changes immediately for the current semester.
Issued by the Office of the Registrar, Akwa Ibom State University.
