BUK bans on unauthorized use of name and logo on Social Media
The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), through the Deanery of Student Affairs, has officially announced a strict ban on the unauthorized use of the institution’s name and logo across all social media platforms.
The directive, contained in a circular signed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza, highlights growing concerns over "unscrupulous individuals" using the university’s identity to mislead, deceive, and exploit students and prospective applicants.
Total Prohibition: The use of "Bayero University Kano," "BUK," or the official University logo on any social media platform is strictly prohibited without prior written approval from the appropriate authorities.
Immediate Removal: All individuals, groups, or associations currently using these identifiers on their profiles or pages are directed to remove them immediately.
Personal Accounts: The university clarified that students and staff are free to operate personal social media accounts using their true identities. However, they must not use the university’s branding in a way that suggests they are an official representative of the institution.
Official Sources: Students and the general public are urged to rely only on the official University website and verified social media handles for authentic information.
The university management warned that any individual found violating this directive will face disciplinary action in accordance with the law and relevant University regulations.
This move is intended to protect the integrity of the institution and safeguard the public from fraudulent activities carried out under the guise of official university communication.
