BUK notice on reopening of NELFUND Application Portal
KANO, NIGERIA β The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has successfully negotiated a final opportunity for its students to access the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). In a special bulletin released on Friday, May 8, 2026, the university announced that the application portal has been re-opened specifically to accommodate students who missed the previous deadline.
The portal is officially live as of today and will remain open until Thursday, May 29, 2026.
A "Final Opportunity" for Students
The reopening comes after a special request from BUK Management to NELFUND to consider students who had yet to complete their applications for the 2025/2026 academic session. This window is open to:
Newly admitted students.
Fresh and non-graduating students.
Other eligible students who have successfully completed their institutional screening.
Critical Application Guidelines
To ensure a smooth process and avoid disqualification, the university has issued a set of strict guidelines for applicants:
Simultaneous Submission: Applications for institutional charges and upkeep must be submitted at the same time. The fund may not process these if they are sent as separate applications.
Avoid Microfinance Wallets: The university strongly discourages the use of wallet accounts like Opay or Moniepoint for the loan disbursement.
Technical Precautions: Applicants are warned to avoid using special characters (e.g., @, #, $, %, &) in name fields or other required data blocks, as this can trigger system errors.
Security: Students must use accurate email addresses and keep their passwords secure, as these are vital for tracking application status later.
How to Apply
Eligible students who have cleared their university screening should visit the official NELFUND portal at:
