BUK SUG notice to students on safe keeping of phones during examinations
The Studentsβ Union Government (SUG) of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), through the Office of the Welfare Director, has issued a public notice advising students to take responsibility for the safety of their mobile phones and personal belongings during the ongoing examination period.
In a statement dated 11 February 2026, the Welfare Director noted that the examination period has commenced and raised concerns over the careless handling of personal items, especially mobile phones, within examination halls. According to the notice, some students reportedly bring phones into examination venues and leave them openly without proper security, exposing such items to theft and snatching.
To address this issue, students have been strongly advised to avoid coming to examination halls with mobile phones and other valuable items unless it is absolutely necessary. Where unavoidable, students are urged to properly secure their belongings by keeping them safely in their bags or using other reliable means.
The Studentsβ Union Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and called for full cooperation from the student body. The union emphasized that adherence to the advisory will help prevent unnecessary loss of valuable items during the examination period.
The notice was signed by Sen. Hamim Mahmud Ahmad (Sen. Mai Gemu), Welfare Director, Studentsβ Union Government, Bayero University, Kano.
