BUK releases SUG election schedule for 2025/2026 session

The Bayero University Kano Independent Electoral Commission (BUKIECO) has officially released the timetable for the conduct of the 2025/2026 Student Union Government (SUG) elections.

According to a notice dated 3rd January 2026, and signed by the Chairman of BUKIECO, Anwar Usman Hassan, all arrangements have been finalized for the election exercise, which will be conducted at the BUKIECO Office in line with approved guidelines.

The schedule of activities is as follows:

Sale of Nomination Forms:

Nomination forms will be on sale from Monday, 5th January to Thursday, 15th January 2026, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily at the BUKIECO Office.

Screening of Candidates:

Screening of all aspiring candidates will take place from Friday, 16th January to Sunday, 18th January 2026, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily, also at the BUKIECO Office.

Election Day:

The SUG election is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 22nd January 2026.

BUKIECO advised all interested aspirants to obtain and submit their nomination forms within the stipulated period and to comply strictly with all screening requirements. The commission also encouraged students and stakeholders to participate fully in the process to ensure a transparent, orderly, and credible election.

The commission emphasized that any activities conducted outside the stated dates, time, and venue will not be entertained.

The notice was announced by Ahmad Umar Ahmad, Public Relations Officer (PRO), BUKIECO.
