Borno State Govt. and UNIMAID announces Hackathon on Peace, Security & Energy Innovation, 2026

The UNDP UniPod, in collaboration with the Borno State Government and the University of Maiduguri, has officially announced a call for applications for an upcoming hackathon. This event is dedicated to fostering solutions in the critical areas of Peace, Security, and Energy Innovation.

The hackathon will be hosted at the Abdul Samad Rabiu International Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ASR-ICiE), located at the University of Maiduguri. Students, innovators, founders, and tech enthusiasts are all encouraged to apply and contribute to building impactful, real-world solutions.

Focus Areas

Participants are invited to develop projects within the following tracks:

  • Peace & Security: Including early warning systems, community resilience, and strategies to combat digital security threats and misinformation.
  • Sustainable Energy: Focusing on solar and renewable solutions, energy access for communities and SMEs, and clean, off-grid innovations.
