In alignment with federal directives to curb indecent dressing in tertiary institutions, the management of Sa’adu Zungur University (Yuli Campus) has released a detailed dress code policy for all students.

The University authority, through a notice signed by the Deputy Dean of Students Affairs, Mohammed Waziri, stated that decent dressing is now a priority alongside the fight against cultism. All students are strongly advised to adhere to these new standards to maintain their academic standing.

Under the new regulations, the university has explicitly banned the following:

  • Short or Skimpy Outfits: Including "body hugs," spaghetti straps, and dresses that expose sensitive parts.
  • Tight or Revealing Wear: Tight shorts, skirts above the knees, and tight-fitting jeans (e.g., Hip star, Patra, Lactase) that reveal body contours.
  • Damaged or Transparent Fabrics: Tattered jeans, jeans with holes, and see-through dresses.
  • Inappropriate Styles: Long skirts with high slits (front or side), trousers that stop between the knee and ankle (three-quarter), and wearing underclothing like singlets publicly.
  • Obscene Content: T-shirts featuring offensive or obscene captions.
  • Improper Buttoning: Shirts without buttons or those left unbuttoned to reveal the chest.

Β

  • Male Grooming: Plaiting or weaving of hair by male students is strictly prohibited. Unkempt appearances, including excessive body hair and untidy beards, are discouraged.
  • Jewelry: Wearing of earrings by male students is banned.
  • Eyewear: Colored eyeglasses are prohibited in lecture theaters unless required for documented medical reasons.

The university has established a three-tier penalty system for those who fail to comply with the dress code:

1st Offense: The student must appear before the Unit Dress Code Implementation Committee for formal counseling.

2nd Offense: The student will be barred from academic facilities, including lecture theaters, libraries, laboratories, studios, workshops, and clinics.

3rd Offense: The student will be required to appear before the Advisory Committee on Student Discipline for further action.

Note: These regulations apply to all students regardless of their course of study. Students are expected to dress in a manner that allows for the proper wearing of laboratory coats and active participation in practical sessions.
