A final year student of the University of Cross River (formerly, Cross River University of Technology) Promise Ekpong, has taken a job as a car wash attendant to meet end means as tertiary institutions remain closed due to the ongoing industrial action by ASUU.

According to the Department of Microbiology student, she decided to seek employment in a car wash and was eventually employed after a 2-week training.

Promise disclosed that she is excited about the job as it is better than doing nothing considering that the current strike has no end in sight. She further advised other students who are also affected by the strike to get something doing, as there is no shame in labour, stating that anything that is legitimate and brings food to their table, should be done with pride.
