The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) has issued an official communiquΓ© addressing the recent withdrawal of some students from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, particularly those in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science.

In a statement dated February 19, 2026, and signed by the SUG President, Comrade Chika Abraham Nwuhuo, the union expressed concern over reports that the affected students were withdrawn on the grounds of unsatisfactory academic performance.

While acknowledging the authority of the university management to enforce academic standards and institutional policies, the SUG emphasized the need for due process, transparency, and fairness in handling such sensitive academic decisions.

According to the union, credible reports suggest that some of the affected students are yet to access and conclusively verify certain results upon which the withdrawal decisions were allegedly based. The SUG stressed that decisions carrying far-reaching academic consequences must be anchored on procedural propriety, equity, and clear administrative processes.

The union called for comprehensive result verification and administrative transparency before the ratification or public release of any withdrawal list.

Students were urged to remain calm, law-abiding, and patient, as the SUG assured that constructive engagements are ongoing through appropriate institutional channels to address the matter.

Reaffirming its commitment, the union stated that it remains steadfast in protecting the academic rights, dignity, and welfare of every student, emphasizing that all students deserve justice, transparency, and fair consideration in matters affecting their academic progression.
