ESUT SUG addresses concern on NELFUND disbursement

The Students Union Government (SUG) of the Enugu State University (ESUT) has released an update on NELFUND disbursement. This was contained in a statement signed by the president.

The statement reads, "I write to address the current concerns and agitation regarding the NELFUND disbursement.

First, I want to sincerely appeal to everyone to remain calm and patient at this time. I understand the frustration and discomfort many of us are facing, especially given that I personally encouraged some of you to make payments with the assurance that the NELFUND support had already been approved. Your concerns are valid, and I do not take them lightly.

I want to assure you that our voices have been heard loud and clear. We have made the necessary representations, and progress has been recorded.

"It is important to note that all cleared names from the Bursary were sent to me yesterday, and I have duly approved the payment. According to the update from the Vice Chancellor's desk, the Bursar is expected to commence payment to all concerned beneficiaries who have duly paid their respective fees by Monday afternoon. At this stage, the process is no longer on my table".

In light of this, I humbly plead with you all to grant just one more period of grace until Tuesday. I truly understand how difficult this situation has been, and I deeply appreciate your patience so far.

However, I want to assure you that if by Tuesday there is no visible action or response, we will be left with no choice but to escalate our actions and take stronger steps to ensure that the right thing is done.

At the same time, I am also using this medium to respectfully urge the University Management to expedite the release of these funds to the rightful beneficiaries without further delay.
