FCE (Technical) Umunze announces new appointments

The 8th Governing Council, Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Anambra State has appointed a distinguished scholar, Dr Ejezie Virginia Nonye, as the Provost of the institution. The Council also appointed Eze Joachim as Registrar, while Oguegbulu Philip and Ameh Godfrey Shaibu won the positions of Bursar and Librarian respectively.  

The Governing Council of the College led by the Chairman, Dr Gani Azeez, appointed the officers after a meticulous screening and interview sessions. Their letters of appointment were released to the respective officers on Thursday, May 7, 2026 by the outgoing Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Bessie Nkah, as directed by the Chairman of Governing Council. 

The outgoing Provost, Prof Theresa Obumneme Okoli, congratulated the winners and wished them fruitful tenure in their respective offices. She further urged the staff of the College to give maximum support to the new leadership in order to move the institution forward. 

Until her appointment, Dr Ejezie was a Congregation Representative for teaching staff in the 8th Governing Council of the College. Staff of the College went agog in excitement, as they celebrated the emergence of new and credible leadership that would take the institution to the next level.   

Dr Ejezie, who hails from Umunze community in Orumba South LGA, Anambra State, joined the College as an Assistant Lecturer in 1992 and rose through the ranks to the position of a Chief Lecturer in 2011. She served the College diligently in various capacities and maintained an active membership of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU). 

She served as Dean, School of Sciences (2015-2017), Director, Academic Planning and Statistics (2011- 2012), Coordinator, College Pre-NCE programme (2009), Acting Dean, School of Sciences (2014-2015), Cognate Dean, School of Agriculture and Home Economics (2015-2016), Head of Department, Chemistry Education (2007-2008), among others. 

Dr Ejezie had her early education at Girls High School, Ihite where she obtained her West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1984/1985. She proceeded to College of Education Nsugbe, now Nwafor Orizu College of Education and bagged the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE in Biology/Chemistry (1988). She further obtained Bachelor of Science Education in Chemistry at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1990). She had her Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (1993), MBA in Business Administration at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (1996), M.Ed Science Education (Chemistry Option) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1997 and doctorate degree in Science Education (Chemistry Option) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2005. 

She is a member of several professional bodies, including the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), Association of Women in Colleges of Education in Nigeria (WICE), Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), fellow of the Institute of Human and Natural Resources, World Council of Curriculum and Instruction, National Association for Advancement of Knowledge, among others. 

The new College Registrar, Eze Joachim, was a Congregation Representative of the non-teaching staff in the 8th Governing Council of the College before his appointment. With 30 years work experience in the College, he was the Deputy Registrar, Admissions Unit. He served the College dutifully in several Committees. 

Eze joined the services of the College as an Administrative Officer in 1996 and rose by dint of hard work to the position of a Deputy Registrar. He maintained a shining work record in the College and in 2001, he was awarded a commendation letter as the best staff of the Students Affairs Unit. He also served the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Senior Staff Welfare Association (SSWA), FCE(T) Umunze, a position he assumed since 2017. 

He had his early education at Abbot Boys Secondary School, Ihiala, Anambra State, where he obtained the Senior Secondary School Certificate in 1987. He later bagged B.Sc in Sociology at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in 1992. He completed the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) programme in FCE(T) Umunze in 2016, and his M.Sc in Sociology, Imo State University in 2018. 

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Fellow, Chartered Institute of Administrators (FCIA), Fellow, Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Professional Administrators (ANCOEPA), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Institute of Corporate Administrators of Nigeria (ICAN), among others.  

The new Bursar, Oguegbulu was the Deputy Bursar of the College, before his appointment. He joined the services of the College in 2003 as an accountant and rose to a Deputy Bursar in 2025. 

Oguegbulu obtained Higher National Diploma in Accountancy at the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State in 1998, and later had his Post Graduate Diploma in Management at the University of Calabar in 2000. He obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Education at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto in 2012. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Education at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) in 2023. He also bagged Master of Business Administration in Accountancy (MBA) in 2008 at the Imo State University, Owerri. He attended the Nigeria College of Accountancy, Jos, where he became a Certified National Accountant (CAN) in Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) in 2022. 

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Association of Business Education in Nigeria (ABEN), among others. 

The new Librarian, Ameh, was the former Chief Librarian at the Federal College of Education Ehamufu, Enugu State. He started his professional career as an Assistant Librarian at Arewa House, Centre for Historical Research and Documentation, ABU in 1995. He later worked as Librarian at the Kogi State Teaching Service Board (2004-2006). He served as the Assistant Librarian in Federal College of Education Ehamufu in 2006 and rose to the position of Chief Librarian in 2022. 

Ameh, who hails from Akpanya in Kogi State, obtained his West African School Certificate at St Charles College, Ankpa, Kogi State in 1983, and bagged the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) at College of Education, Katsina Ala, Benue State in 1989. He later attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he had B.A in Library Science/History in 1994. In 2017, he obtained his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). 

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (2019), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (2021) and the Academic and Research Libraries Section (2022).
