Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa SUG notice to new and returning students

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa has issued important directives affecting newly admitted ND I students and the general student body following a meeting with the Students’ Union Government (SUG) led by its President, Comrade Lawal Bawa.

According to a press release from the SUG, newly admitted ND I students who were offered admission into courses different from their original choices are advised to note that they have two options. They may either accept the admission and subsequently revert to their original course of choice by making the necessary changes on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal, or decline the admission entirely.

The Polytechnic management emphasized that no further changes will be entertained beyond these options, as some departments have already reached their approved carrying capacity.

In a related development, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Dahiru Usman Jnr., has cautioned all students to remain vigilant and safeguard their personal belongings. He warned against individuals impersonating members of a so-called “Dress Code Committee” who may attempt to seize valuables such as mobile phones, bags, or important documents.

Dr. Usman clarified that no staff member, security personnel, or union official is authorized to confiscate students’ property. He explained that any student found violating the institution’s dress code should only be asked to return home to correct their appearance, rather than having their belongings seized.

Students have therefore been reminded to strictly adhere to the Polytechnic’s dress code to avoid embarrassment or possible disciplinary action by security officers. The directive, according to the Dean, remains in force until officially constituted Dress Code Committee members are duly appointed and formally announced to the Polytechnic community.
