Federal University Dutsin-Ma announces 13th Inaugural Lecture

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Professor Mohammed Khalid Othman (FNIAE), on behalf of the entire university community, has formally invited members of the public, academics, students, and stakeholders to the 13th Inaugural Lecture of the institution.

The inaugural lecture will be delivered by Professor Bashir Aliyu Sallau, widely known as Sarkin Askar Yariman Katsina. He is a Professor of Hausa Cultural Studies in the Department of Hausa, Faculty of Arts, Federal University Dutsin-Ma. Professor Sallau holds several academic qualifications including TC II, NCE, B.A. Ed., M.A., and Ph.D. in Hausa Culture from Bayero University Kano (BUK).

Lecture Topic:
“The Art of Hausa Traditional Barbering (Wanzanci) in Relation to Islamic Religion: Modernization and Challenges of the 21st Century in Hausaland.”

The lecture will explore the historical and cultural significance of traditional barbering within Hausa society and its relationship with Islamic traditions. It will also examine how modernization and evolving social realities are shaping the practice in the contemporary era.
