The Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has appointed Professor Mohammed Isa Kida as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor, effective February 11, 2026.

In a letter of appointment dated October 29, 2025, the Council confirmed that Prof. Kida will serve a single, non-renewable term of five years.

Before his new role, Prof. Kida served with distinction as Dean of the Faculty of Management Science at FULafia. Recognised for his strong academic and administrative credentials as an accountant and educator, he was presented the appointment letter by Mrs. Lola Fibisola Akande, Chairperson of the University’s Governing Council.

Prof. Kida will succeed Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, whose tenure ends in February 2026. The Council expressed full confidence that under Prof. Kida’s leadership, the university will advance its mission of academic excellence, innovation and institutional growth.

The University community looks forward to joining the Governing Council in welcoming Prof. Kida into his new role and in supporting his drive to strengthen academic programmes, foster research and enhance student experience at FULafia.
