Henry β€’ 1 month ago

The Faculty of Biological Sciences Students’ Association (FOBIOSSA), University of Uyo, has issued a strong warning to students over reports of suspicious calls and messages targeting members of the faculty.

According to an official statement released by the association, some unknown individuals have been contacting students, instructing them to attend a supposed GST class at an unfamiliar location and requesting special codes or one-time passwords (OTPs).

The association confirmed that these messages are fraudulent and are being carried out by impersonators posing as the Faculty President and other executive members in an attempt to gain credibility and exploit students.

Students have been advised to take the following precautions:

1. Ignore and do not respond to any suspicious calls or messages.

2. Avoid going to any unfamiliar locations based on unofficial information.

3. Never disclose special codes or OTPs received via SMS or any messaging platform.

4. Block and report any phone numbers or individuals involved in such scams.

5. Rely only on verified information released through the Office of the Director of Information of the faculty.

The association emphasized that all legitimate updates will only be communicated through official channels.

Students were further urged to remain vigilant, as the matter has already been reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

FOBIOSSA concluded by reminding students that their safety remains a top priority and encouraged everyone to help spread awareness to prevent further victims.
