FUDUTSE gets distance learning & Continuing Education School
The Senate of the Federal University Dutse (FUD), under the Chairmanship of Professor Ahmed Muhammed Gumel has approved the establishment of the School for Continuing and Distance Learning Education (SCDLE), to meet the growing demands of working professionals, non-traditional students and international learners which will provide alternative pathways for qualified applicants who cannot be absorbed by conventional or full-time programmes.
The VC in his remark said the global landscape of higher education is undergoing a profound shift toward flexible, technology-based learning and FUD cannot afford to be left behind.
He said by focusing on digital literacy and professional growth, the school aims to bridge the current access gap while diversifying the University’s internally generated revenue.
To ensure academic rigour regardless of a student's location or schedule, he said SCDLE will employ a multi-channel delivery approach which includes Continuing Education designed for local professionals, offering face-to-face instruction through weekend and evening classes.
Prof Gumel explained that the Distance Learning is going to be borderless and 100% digital experience where the entire learning lifecycle is managed via a state-of-the-art Learning Management System (LMS), and a blended Learning which is a hybrid model, combining approximately 60% online study with 40% face-to-face intensive contact sessions.
Professor Gumel said the programmes will be drawn from a wide range of faculties, including Agriculture, Computing, Management Sciences among others, adding that the curriculum will meet the same stringent standards as conventional degrees.
