FUDUTSE sets 25 marks as minimum for concessional pass
The Federal University Dutse (FUD) has approved 25 marks as the minimum score required for the award of a Concessional Pass, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.
This decision was taken at the University Senateβs 73rd (Extraordinary) meeting held on 23 December 2025, according to a circular issued by the Directorate of Academic Affairs through the Office of the Registrar.
The Senate explained that the new benchmark is aimed at ensuring uniformity across all faculties and departments and maintaining academic standards. It noted with concern that some students deliberately skip lectures, Continuous Assessment (CA) tests, or even examinations, under the assumption that they would automatically be granted a Concessional Pass.
The circular emphasized that such practices violate Senate guidelines and undermine academic integrity.
Henceforth, only students who score 25 marks and above will be considered eligible for a Concessional Pass.
The circular was signed by Bappa U. Shamsuddeen, for the Registrar, and copied to key university officials for implementation.
