FUTA announces 193rd inaugural lecture

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has announced the 193rd Inaugural Lecture of the university, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

The lecture, titled β€œSix-Legged Arthropods: Food Security, Health and National Economic Development,” will be delivered by Professor Olufunmilayo Eunice Oladipo (Ajayi), a Professor of Applied Entomology and Pest Management. Professor Oladipo holds several professional affiliations and academic qualifications, including B.Tech., M.Tech., and PhD (Akure).

The event will take place at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, FUTA, and is slated to commence at 3:00 pm, with guests advised to be seated by 2:45 pm.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, FAS, will serve as the Chairman of the lecture, while the Registrar, Mr. C. O. Adeleye, FNIM, signed the official invitation.

Members of the general public, the university community, and friends of FUTA are cordially invited to attend the lecture, which is expected to highlight the critical role of insects and other six-legged arthropods in food security, public health, and national economic development.
