The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has announced the celebration of its 2026 Asa Day, an annual cultural event that has grown into a national platform for showcasing Nigeria’s rich heritage and traditional values.

According to a statement issued by the Registrar, Mr. Charles Adeleye, FNIM, the 2026 Asa Day will hold on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Asa Day has become a significant cultural event highlighting the diverse traditions, particularly through indigenous attire and local cuisines that reflect the unique ways of life of various communities.

While participation is not compulsory, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, FAS, has encouraged all members of staff and students to adorn traditional attire on the designated date as a mark of identification and support for this worthy cultural cause.

The University community is expected to once again demonstrate unity in diversity as it celebrates culture, identity, and heritage during the 2026 Asa Day event.
