FUTES-IYIN disclaimer notice on circulating video of alleged end of examination party

The attention of the Management of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti (FUTES-IYIN) has been drawn to a video circulating on social media, purportedly linking the University to an alleged β€œend of examination party.”

The University wishes to state unequivocally that it has no connection whatsoever with the said event. No such party was organized or approved by the Management.

Contrary to the rumours suggesting that the event was held on campus, preliminary investigation reveals that the event was organized by a private lounge/bar within the host community and took place outside the University premises, without the knowledge or involvement of the University authorities.

While the Management firmly dissociates the University from the event, it also strongly condemns the immoral conduct displayed in the video, as such behaviour violates the values and standards upheld by the institution.

In a proactive effort to curb negative external influences, the University is intensifying plans towards developing a fully residential campus system that will promote discipline, positive culture, and a more controlled academic environment.

Members of the University community and the general public are hereby informed that students are currently on semester break following the successful completion of the First Semester Examinations. Consequently, a significant number of students have travelled, with only a few remaining on or around campus. It is therefore important to note that many of the individuals seen in the video are not students of the University, but youths from the host community.

The University places a premium on discipline, character, and its public image, particularly as a fast-rising institution, and will not condone any act capable of bringing its name into disrepute. Accordingly, appropriate measures will be taken to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

The Management therefore urges the public to disregard any misleading information suggesting the University’s involvement.

Thank you.
