STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS
All candidates for the above positions must demonstrate exceptional capacity in the following foundational areas:
Digital Transformation and AI Competency: Candidates must possess advanced digital transformation skills, demonstrating a profound awareness of Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI ethics, and its implications for higher education administration and academic delivery.
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG): A strong understanding and awareness of ESG principles are required.
Financial Literacy and Resource Mobilization: Exceptional financial literacy is crucial. Candidates must exhibit a proven ability to attract funding and secure research grants.
Community Engagement and Talent Attraction: The foundational ability to engage effectively with the host community in Jalingo and beyond is paramount.
Knowledge-to-Enterprise Orientation: Candidates must demonstrate a proven commitment to embedding self-reliance principles across all university functions to enable students and staff to translate knowledge into sustainable economic and social value, realizing the University's motto/tagline "Knowledge for Self-Reliance."
1. THE VICE CHANCELLOR
The Position: The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive, Academic, and Accounting Officer of the University. He/She is the Chairman of the Senate, Congregation and a member of the Governing Council.
Qualifications and Experience:
Distinguished Professor with not less than ten (10) years standing.
Outstanding record of academic excellence with a strong publication record in high-impact journals.
Minimum of one thousand (1,000) citations in peer-reviewed publications indexed in international databases (Google Scholar, Web of Science, or Scopus).
Not more than sixty (60) years of age at the time of assumption of duty.
2. THE REGISTRAR
The Position: Principal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of the University, responsible to the Vice Chancellor for day-to-day administration (except financial matters).
Qualifications and Experience:
Good Honours Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division).
Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification relevant administrative experience in a university.
3. THE BURSAR
The Position: Principal Officer and Chief Financial Officer responsible for day-to-day financial administration.
Qualifications and Experience:
Good Honours Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
Professional qualification as an accountant with current membership in a recognized body such as ICAN, ANAN, or ACCA.
4. THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
The Position: Principal Officer responsible for the administration of the University Library.
Qualifications and Experience:
Ph.D. or a Strong Masters in Library and Information Science.
Minimum of ten (10) years cognate experience.
5. DIRECTOR OF WORKS AND PHYSICAL PLANNING
Qualifications and Experience: Honours Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Building, or Estate Management; full professional registration (COREN, ARCON, QSRBN, CORBON); minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience.
6. DIRECTOR OF ACADEMIC PLANNING
Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D. in a relevant discipline; Rank of at least Reader or Professor; minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience; minimum of 200 citations in peer-reviewed publications.
7. DIRECTOR OF ICT
Qualifications and Experience: Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field (Ph.D. is an added advantage); minimum of ten (10) years practical experience.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Appointments are for a single tenure of five (5) years for the Vice Chancellor and other Principal Officers. Remuneration is consolidated and highly competitive, aligning with Nigerian university system standards.
