UNIUYO SUG announces ban of unrecognized Tutorial groups

The Students' Union (SU) of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has issued a stern directive with immediate effect, announcing the immediate dissolution and banning of all unauthorized tutorial groups, pay-for-tutorial services, and associated activities operating across all University campuses and hostels.

​In an Internal Memorandum released by the Students' Union's Directorate of Academics, the University Management affirmed that it has NEVER approved and DOES NOT recognize any form of paid tutorial classes.

​Banned activities include, but are not limited to:

​Paid tutorial classes

​"Special centres"

​"Extra-mural classes"

​"G.S. tutorial"

​"100-level package"

​"400-level crash programme"

​Any tutorial group operating on campus for financial gain.

​All unrecognized tutorial groups currently operating within the University of Uyo (Main Campus, Town Campus, Annex, Abak Campus, and all hostels) are hereby banned with immediate effect.

​The SU Directorate of Academics has outlined severe sanctions for non-compliance:

​No student or group of students is permitted to organize, advertise, collect money, issue forms, or conduct any tutorial class in the name of the University or any department.

​Any individual or group found running, patronizing, or facilitating any unauthorized tutorial outfit or around the university premises shall face the following sanctions:

​Immediate dissolution of the group.

​Suspension of all members involved for at least one semester.

​Forfeiture of all monies collected.

​Referral to the Students' Disciplinary Committee.

​Legitimate academic assistance, where necessary, shall only be in the form of departmental/faculty-recognized study/discussion groups coordinated through the class representatives and approved by the Director of Academics.

​All students are strongly advised to disregard any WhatsApp group, poster, flyer, or personality inviting you to register or pay for any tutorial programme.
