KADPOLY responds to incident involving a student and the institution's Dress Code Committee
The Management of Kaduna Polytechnic has officially responded to a viral video circulating on social media today, March 12, 2026. The footage depicts an incident at the College of Business and Management Studies (CBMS) where several students were barred from attending lectures by members of the institution's Dress Code Committee.
After reviewing the video, the Management stated clearly that the attire worn by the affected students appeared moderate and appropriate. Consequently, the institution maintains that the students should not have been prevented from attending their lectures based on their appearance.
While Kaduna Polytechnic upholds a Dress Code Policy intended to promote decency and professionalism, the Management emphasized that enforcement must remain within approved guidelines. The institution stressed that enforcement should never be carried out in an "extreme or arbitrary manner."
Management has immediately launched an investigation to determine the facts of the incident and identify any lapses in how the policy was applied. The Polytechnic has promised that:
- Appropriate measures will be taken to resolve the matter swiftly and fairly.
- Steps will be taken to prevent future occurrences of overzealous enforcement.
- The institution will ensure students' rights to education are not unduly hindered.
In the interim, all students are advised to continue adhering to the institution's dress code. However, the school encourages students with grievances to use official channels for complaints rather than resorting to social media or unofficial platforms.
