Students of Lagos State University on Thursday made a peaceful protest to remind Governor Babatunde Fashola of their plight particularly on hiked tuition fee.

The protest was led by the President of Lagos State University Student Union, (LASUSU), Comrade Nurudeen Temilola Yusuf.

Students, who marched from Idumota to CMS to campaign for a reduction in the tuition fees of the institution, were chanting aluta songs to register their grievances.

According to the president, “the march commenced  from Idumota Bridge – Lagos to C.M.S Bus Stop on Lagos Island. All students were instructed to come with any of their identification cards; (School, Faculty or Departmental I.D Card, Course Form or Examination Docket).

Yusuf told LEADERSHIP that the protest was held to remind government to change its decision on the tuition fee not to cause violence.

“We are about to resume for another semester, and nothing has been done by government that was why we came out,” he added.

The union had earlier held a meeting with the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde  Fashola, on April 3, 2014, where the governor made it clear that total reversal of the fees was not possible. (Leadership)
