Madonna University condemns false & malicious claim

Amara 3 weeks ago

Madonna University Nigeria strongly condemns the spread of false, malicious, and misleading information currently circulating on social media regarding the tragic death of Mr. William Fubara.

The allegations suggesting misconduct or violence within the University are entirely unfounded and appear designed to mislead the public, provoke unnecessary outrage, and damage the reputation of an institution founded on discipline, moral responsibility, and respect for human dignity.

To set the record straight, the University states as follows:

i. At no time was Mr. William Fubara, or any other student, subjected to physical assault or abuse on campus.

ii. Mr. Fubara’s unfortunate passing occurred at his home during the Easter break, not within the University as has been falsely claimed.

iii. One report alleged that “Mr. Fubara was killed last weekend.” This claim is clearly false, as students were still away on Easter break at the time.

iv. Those responsible for originating and spreading these malicious narratives have been identified. They have since admitted to their actions and, together with their parents, have appealed for forgiveness.

Madonna University Nigeria considers these actions deeply regrettable. The deliberate distortion of facts, particularly at a time of loss, demonstrates a troubling disregard for truth, accountability, and the emotional wellbeing of all affected.

While the University will not be distracted by attempts to undermine its integrity, it remains firmly committed to transparency, due process, and the continued safety and welfare of every student in its care.

The University urges members of the public, media professionals, and online communities to exercise responsibility and restraint. The spread of unverified information, sensational narratives, and emotionally charged speculation does not advance justice; it only deepens pain and fosters unnecessary division.

At this difficult time, Madonna University Nigeria, extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mr. William Fubara. Their loss is profound, and the University's thoughts are with them.

The University is in communication with parents of the student and the University has sent a three man delegation to represent the university at the burial tomorrow in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Madonna University Nigeria remains steadfast in its mission and values and will continue to uphold its longstanding tradition of academic excellence, discipline, and ethical formation.
