NELFUND Beneficiaries Association debunks rumours of upkeep allowance increase

The NELFUND Beneficiaries Association Nigeria (NBAN) has issued an official clarification dismissing rumours circulating among students about an alleged increase in the NELFUND upkeep allowance from ₦20,000 to ₦150,000.

In a statement released on December 28, 2025, the Association described the information as unconfirmed and misleading, stressing that there has been no official announcement from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) regarding any increment in the upkeep allowance.

According to the Association, careful verification revealed that NELFUND has not published any statement on its official website or through its verified communication channels to support the claim. While acknowledging that policy reviews or updates may occur in the future, NBAN emphasized that no such decision has been officially communicated at this time.

The Association therefore advised all beneficiaries to disregard the rumour and rely solely on information released directly by NELFUND through its official platforms.

NBAN reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate and timely information, supporting beneficiaries nationwide, and engaging relevant authorities when necessary. It assured beneficiaries that any official development concerning NELFUND allowances would be promptly communicated through its verified channels.
