UNIJOS Students' Forum notice to students on GST Payments

The Faculty Presidents’ Forum of the University of Jos has issued a formal press release regarding the 2025/2026 academic session, providing critical updates on General Studies (GST) payments and the collection of forms.

​Following successful negotiations with university authorities, the Forum announced a streamlined process aimed at ensuring transparency and easing the financial burden on the student body.

​The new directives distinguish between returning and new students as follows:

​For Returning Students (200 Level and Above):

Returning students are not required to pay any GST fees or purchase GST textbooks. They are eligible to collect their GST forms free of charge at the Directorate of General Studies. The only requirement for collection is a verified school fee receipt.

​For New Students (100 Level):

Fresh students are directed to collect their GST forms at the Directorate of General Studies upon presentation of their verified school fee receipt. New students will only be required to pay a fee of ₦1,000 specifically for the GST handbook.

​Immediate Action Required

​The Forum advises all students who have not yet secured their GST forms to proceed to the Directorate of General Studies immediately to complete their collection.

​Call for Vigilance

​In a move to prevent extortion, the Press Release includes an Important Notice: Any student asked to make payments outside of the officially stated ₦1,000 for the handbook (for new students) or any fees at all (for returning students) should report the incident to the authorities immediately.

​The statement, co-signed by the Forum’s leadership including Chris Nson Jr (Chairman), Godiah Israel Ibrahim (Secretary), and Dongjep Martin’s Humphrey (PRO), emphasized their commitment to fairness and the welfare of all UNIJOS students.
