Nigeria Police Academy set to Launch Postgraduate Degree Program
The Nigeria Police Academy is taking a major step toward academic advancement as it prepares to commence its postgraduate degree program. Today, the Academy, under the leadership of the 24th Commandant, AIG Patrick A. Atayero MSc(UK), MBA(USA), psc, MSPSP, hosted a high-level resource verification team from the National Universities Commission. The team was led by Prof. Maxwell Gidado SAN, OON, alongside 17 other NUC officials, as part of the mandatory process required before the program can officially begin.
The visit reflects the Academyβs commitment to raising the bar in police education and officer development. AIG Atayero emphasized that introducing postgraduate studies is about more than adding new courses, itβs about equipping officers with deeper knowledge, critical thinking, and leadership skills to meet the demands of modern policing. He noted that this initiative aligns with the vision of the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu psc(+), NPM, whose leadership has placed strong emphasis on professionalism and continuous learning within the Force.
Both the Academy and the NUC verification team expressed optimism about setting high standards for the postgraduate programs. The goal is to ensure that once launched, the programs will be rigorous, credible, and responsive to the realities of national security and public service.
With this milestone, the Nigeria Police Academy is moving closer to becoming not just a center for tactical training, but also a hub for advanced learning and research in policing and security.
