Northwest University Kano Academic Calendar, 2025/2026

The Senate of Northwest University Kano, at its 65th meeting held on Monday, 9th March 2026, approved the official academic calendar for undergraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session as follows:

First Semester

Registration for Fresh Students: Monday 23rd March – Sunday 5th April, 2026 (2 Weeks)

Registration for Returning Students: Monday 20th April – Sunday 26th April, 2026 (1 Week)

Matriculation: Tuesday 28th April, 2026 (1 Day)

Orientation for Fresh Students: Thursday 30th April – Saturday 9th May, 2026 (10 Days)

First Semester Lectures (Part 1): Monday 11th May – Saturday 20th June, 2026 (6 Weeks)

Mid-Semester Break: Monday 22nd June – Saturday 27th June, 2026 (1 Week)

First Semester Lectures (Part 2): Monday 29th June – Saturday 8th August, 2026 (6 Weeks)

First Semester Examinations: Monday 10th August – Saturday 29th August, 2026 (3 Weeks)

First Semester Break: Saturday 29th August – Saturday 5th September, 2026 (1 Week)

Second Semester

Second Semester Lectures (Part 1): Monday 7th September – Saturday 17th October, 2026 (6 Weeks)

Add/Drop Period: Monday 14th September – Saturday 19th September, 2026 (1 Week)

Mid-Semester Break: Monday 19th October – Saturday 24th October, 2026 (1 Week)

Second Semester Lectures (Part 2): Monday 26th October – Saturday 28th November, 2026 (5 Weeks)

Second Semester Examinations: Monday 30th November – Saturday 19th December, 2026 (3 Weeks)

Session Conclusion: The 2025/2026 Academic Session officially ends on Saturday 19th December, 2026. This is followed by a 12-week vacation period.

New Session: The 2026/2027 Academic Session is scheduled to commence on Monday 8th March, 2027.

Note: All public holidays should be observed.
