The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the establishment of two new full-time undergraduate engineering programmes at the Federal University Wukari, Taraba State.

In a letter signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Ag. Director of Academic Planning, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the Commission announced the approval following a successful resource assessment visit by a panel of experts to the university.

The newly approved programmes are:

Β· Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering

Β· Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering

According to the communique referenced NUC/AP/F31/VOL.I/79 and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, the programmes are approved to run in the university's Main Campus effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The NUC clarified that this approval is specifically for the full-time mode of delivery. The university must seek and obtain separate approval from the Commission before commencing any part-time offering of the programmes.

The Commission also mandated the university to maintain the approved titles and nomenclature for the programmes, noting that any changes would require its express authorization. The Federal University Wukari is further urged to ensure the provision of adequate human and material resources for the sustainable development and growth of the new engineering faculties.

This approval is expected to broaden the academic portfolio of the Federal University Wukari and provide more opportunities for students seeking engineering education in the region.
