NUC to Conduct Census of Professional Programmes in Nigerian Varsities:
The Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, NUC, Prof. Julius Okogie has said the commission would soon conduct a census of professional programmes running by universities across the country.
He said the purpose was to ascertain numbers of students enrolled for such programmes nationwide. Addressing vice-chancellors and registrars of private universities last week in Abuja, Okojie said the census would assist the commission in identifying schools running those programmes illegally.

Idris He added that the organisation would equally do midterm review to verify each universityβs claims during accreditation of their courses.
While condemning the giving of arbitrary honorary awards to some undeserved individuals in the society by some universities, Okogie said the various measures put in place by the commission were to ensure that Nigerian university system moves along with the rest of the world.
