OAU announces new central transportation framework
The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has introduced a new central transportation framework aimed at improving student mobility across campus. The system is scheduled to go live on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, starting from 6:00 AM.
Regular Routes (10-Minute Intervals)
Buses and tricycles will operate frequently on the following high-traffic routes:
- Main Gate Terminus to SUB: Serviced exclusively by buses.
- Student Halls of Residence to Academic areas.
- Student Halls of Residence to Staff Quarters.
- Student Halls of Residence to New Market.
Special Routes (1-Hour Intervals)
Shuttles from the Main Gate Terminus will serve the following specific locations every hour:
- New Market
- Road 2
- Road 7
- Anglomoz
Ticketing and Fare Information
To ensure efficiency, the university has moved to a cashless ticketing system:
- Price: β¦100 per ticket (per drop).
- Policy: Strict NO CASH policy on board.
- Purchase: Tickets must be purchased prior to boarding at designated terminals located throughout the campus.
Key Operational Notes
Tricycles (Keke) are designated to transport students from various halls of residence to lecture theatres, staff quarters, academic blocks, and bank/worship centers. Students are reminded that boarding is only permitted with a valid purchased ticket.
