OAU update on the operation of newly donated buses and tricycles
The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has officially confirmed the receipt of fifty (50) buses and thirty (30) tricycles donated by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON.
This donation to her Alma Mater is viewed as a significant step in enhancing the mobility and well-being of the student body, effectively addressing long-standing transportation hurdles on campus.
The University expressed deep appreciation to His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife. The Ooni played a pivotal role in facilitating the delivery of the fleet, continuing his tradition of supporting educational development and student welfare within the ancient city.
While the vehicles have officially commenced operations, Management has appealed to the University Community for understanding regarding current service gaps. As the initiative is categorized as a "work in progress," the administration is actively working on several key areas:
- Route Optimization: Mapping out the most efficient paths for student transit.
- Scheduling Improvements: Ensuring consistent timing to reduce wait periods.
- Operational Enhancements: Upgrading the overall system to meet 21st-century global university standards.
Management assures all students that every concern raised regarding the new transportation system is being carefully reviewed. The goal remains the delivery of a seamless, safe, and effective service for all stakeholders.
